A.I. Barbie is coming to spy on your children

Has your mom sent you that New York Times Magazine article about Hello Barbie yet? Mine has, with the added commentary: “It is quite disturbing on so many levels to think of these being used by actual children, although it would probably be fun to use one to D.J. your Halloween party (probably won’t be available yet by then).” While I’m glad my mom is so confident in my ability to find human DJs, I was sad the story was more than a week old because I’ve never met a creepy doll story I didn’t like. And this one is a doozy. Are children going to think their dolls are real people? Are they going to prefer their dolls, who are always nice to them, to real people, who can sometimes be difficult?…
