Airbnb opens up more room for women and minorities

Underrepresented minorities and women who don’t have a background in tech, but want to make the jump into the industry, may be eligible for a job at Airbnb. That’s thanks to a new program designed to broaden and diversify the company’s engineering and data science divisions. The vacation-rental company is hiring, and it wants to do so with an eye toward diversifying, officials said. On Monday, Airbnb announced a collaboration with organizations like Coalition for Queens, a New York organization that fosters entrepreneurship among underrepresented groups, and Galvanize, a San Francisco education company that specializes in data science, engineering and Web development.
