Apple acquires machine learning and AI startup Turi

In a move first reported by Geekwire, tech giant Apple has acquired Turi Inc., a machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) startup based in Seattle. Apple has reportedly paid an amount of $200 million for the acquisition of Turi, which was originally named GraphLab in its open-source project days and was earlier called Dato. The reported acquisition of Turi — a startup which basically helps developers in creating AI solutions — by Apple underscores an apparent effort by the tech giant to compete with Google, Amazon, and Facebook in the AI arena.
