Apple Acquires UK Based VocalIQ to Improve Siri

Apple has acquired England based speech technology company VocalIQ to help Siri sound more natural. The startup is reportedly developing a more natural, human way for machines and people to communicate. A spokesperson of the iPhone leader confirmed the deal, but the terms were not disclosed. While voice recognition technology is improving, engineers say that computers have a long way to go to consistently understand people’s intentions and reply in natural ways. Steve Young, chair of VocalIQ said that the use of speech to interact with computers has reached a tipping point.
