Apple buys artificial intelligence startup VocalIQ to expand Siri

Apple has acquired UK-based artificial intelligence startup VocalIQ. The new acquisition would help the Cupertino giant to expand Siri, the Financial Times reports confirming the development through some internal sources. The publication highlights that the deal with VocalIQ is Apple’s third acquisition of a UK company this year. This somewhere suggests that the iPhone maker has started considering the UK as its target market in addition to the US. Moreover, the acquisition is considered to be a helpful step for the company to improve Siri. Led by South Africa-born mathematician Blaise Thomson and Cambridge university professor Steve Young, VocalIQ offers its self-learning dialogue platform for devices ranging from automotive and wearables to smart homes and smartphones.
