Apple Buys Machine-Learning Start-Up Turi For 0-Million

Apple just made a $200-million purchase when it bought Seattle-based AI startup, Turi. Turi provides frameworks and tools for developers to incorporate machine learning and AI, or artificial intelligence, into apps. The company was founded by a University of Washington Professor who saw a need for this service in the market due to the growing popularity of apps for everyday activities. One example of what Turi will be able to do is offer developers a higher-level fraud protection to incorporate into their apps. Apple has made headlines in past years by investing in AI. Last year it purchased VocalIQ and Perceptio. It also bought Faceshift and a company called Emolient.
