Google Views Itself Through Machine Learning Lens

Google CEO Sundar Pichai last week lit up his first earnings call with accounts of a solid third quarter and machine learning dreams that could permeate all the company’s products. The Q3 2015 report was the first in which Google reported earnings through its recently formed parent company, Alphabet. As the call drew to a close, investors asked Pichai and Ruth Porat, CFO of Google and Alphabet, about the company’s vision for machine learning. Google’s investments in artificial intelligence and machine learning are a priority, Pichai said. The company has been rethinking everything it has been doing, and doing so through the transformative field of machine learning, he said. Google has been investing in machine learning for a while and believes it is “state of the art” in that area.…
