GPUs Power Facebook’s New Deep Learning Machine

Facebook today is announcing that its researchers have developed hardware for a type of artificial intelligence called deep learning, which can be used inside several of the company’s applications. Facebook is giving away for free some hardware designs that make computers smarter and able to learn. The social media giant appears to be taking full advantage of this as Facebook’s AI research team (FAIR) plans to more than triple investments in GPU hardware in order to extend machine learning techniques to more products across the company.
