Hitachi Hires First ‘Artificial Intelligence’ Boss To Manage Workers

Imagine heading into work and learning that your supervisor is now a robot. Sound far-fetched? The odds may be slim but that does not mean it is not a reality for some. Last week, Hitachi announced that their company has implemented a robot as a supervisor making the robot the first boss using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The idea behind implementing a robot is “kaizen” or “constant improvement.” The robot boss is already proving to be effective, as workers have seen an 8 percent increase in productivity. “Hitachi developed AI which provides appropriate work orders based on an understanding of demand fluctuation and on-site kaizen activity derived from big data accumulated daily in business systems,” said Hitachi in their announcement. “By integrating the AI into business systems, it will become…
