IBM to Donate Cognitive Analytics/Learning

LAKE WALES, Fla.—Contributing cognitive computing resources to the open-source community within the year will be the ultimate end of IBM’s recently release Spectrum Computing suite. Last year it opened its software-defined-storage environment called Spectrum Storage—used by Netflix and 100,000 other servers worldwide—to non-IBM storage hardware. Now it promises to follow-up with donating cognitive analytics and machine learning to the open-source community. IBM last year promised to invest $1 billion in redefining the next-generation of the software-defined-storage and now wants to follow-up with the cognitive analytics and machine learning software that uncovers insights from that data using a software-defined infrastructure (SDI).
