Married profs mix music, neuroscience at UCF

Ayako Yonetani grew up as a child prodigy playing the violin and eventually earned three degrees from the renowned Juilliard School. As a teenager, Kiminobu Sugaya was curious about what happens as people age. It would lead him to medical school and a career researching adult stem cells in hopes of finding cures for Alzheimer’s and other diseases. Their hometowns were both in the Tokyo suburbs, but they would not meet for years later until she played a concert at the University of Central Florida, where she teaches violin and he is a neuroscience professor at the Lake Nona medical school.
