Microsoft buys Wand Labs to fuel AI chatbot plans

MICROSOFT HAS PURCHASED messaging app developer Wand Labs in a bid to boost its artificial intelligence-based chatbot technology.   Wand Labs’ technologies chiefly involve chatbots that can communicate with people using artificial intelligence to solve queries without requiring human interaction. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella outlined this as a major new area of interest for the company at the recent Build conference, and the firm debuted its controversial weed-smoking Tay chatbot in March.
