MIT algorithm mimics human intuition

A new algorithm developed by researchers at MIT shows potential to create data models as well as humans can. Researchers at MIT have created a new algorithm–known as the “Data Science Machine”– that can outperform most humans when it comes to finding key patterns in large chunks of data, according to a paper set to be presented at IEEE International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics. To test the capabilities of the new algorithm, the team entered it into three major data competitions. Though it never reached the top prize, the Data Science Machine beat 615 of the 906 human teams it faced.
