Neuroscience 2015 Satellite Symposium

Imaging neuronal activity in freely-moving animals to link neural circuit dynamics to precise behavioral states

Understanding how brain activation mediates behaviors is a central goal of systems neuroscience. Through the years several techniques have been developed for fluorescence imaging in the brain of awake, behaving animals in order to elucidate the cellular activity underlying brain function, neuronal networks involved in cognitive processes and/or behavior. These techniques open up a way to better understand disease processes and can contribute to discovery of potential therapies that intervene in those processes.

Efficient automated systems are thus essential tools for conducting these complex experiments and for analyzing the large quantities of data generated. Cross talks between technologies and behavioral experts, and among users of automated systems are important for further expansion of such systems.

This satellite symposium will feature leading experts in the field that will discuss their latest developments and techniques for revealing the upstream neuronal activity underlying behavior.
