Oxnard-based Kavli Foundation announces 0 million for brain research

OXNARD, Calif. – The Oxnard-based Kavli Foundation and its university partners announced Thursday a $100 million commitment to support research into the brain and brain-related disorders. The majority of the funds will establish three new Kavli neuroscience institutes at the Johns Hopkins University, The Rockefeller University and the UC San Francisco, officials said. The funding will support the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies, or BRAIN, Initiative. Launched in 2013 by President Barack Obama, the initiative is a public and private partnership. “The establishment of three new institutes, along with the added investment in our existing neuroscience institutes, will further empower great scientists to help write the next chapter in neuroscience,” said Robert W.
