The overall goal of this PhD thesis will be to understand the neuronal mechanisms underlying the learning of vocalizations. We are using the zebra finch as a model system because, just like we learn our language, songbirds learn their song. Within the first 90 days post hatching zebra finches listen to their father and try to copy his song.
