Say goodbye to the smartphone in five years

Artificial intelligence (AI) will soon enable interaction with objects without the need for a smartphone screen, and smartphones will become obsolete in five years. These are among the findings of Ericsson’s ConsumerLab annual trend report released on Tuesday. The report shows that as the adoption of networked technologies moves faster than ever, mass-market use becomes quicker. As a result, the time period when early adopters influence others will be shorter than before. “Some of these trends may seem futuristic.
