SAN FRANCISCO – Ever since Siri, Silicon Valley has been abuzz with talk of ways to develop Artificial Intelligence virtual assistants to better organize our daily routines. While futurologists may be in fear and despair, the tech community is already making bets on how soon the human brain can be synchronized with the “cloud.” As Microsoft representative Jeannette Wing noted, “We were in an AI winter… and now we’re in an AI spring.” Siri, along with her colleagues – Android’s AIVC, Microsoft’s Cortana, Facebook’s upcoming M and Google Now – are already saving time for daily needs like setting up alarms, making calls, routing to locations, and fast-finding information.
