Toyota Could Soon Commence Third TRI Facility in Michigan

Toyota is scheduled to commence its third artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicle research facility in the United States, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The new Toyota Research Institute (TRI) base, which has been scheduled to be opened in June 2016, will focus on self-driving cars. TRI is establishing their in-house R&D division near the University of Michigan campus. Toyota has partnered all its autonomous vehicle research centers with leading universities and the Japanese auto major has access to AI and robotics experts to develop technologies in the field of self-driving cars and artificial intelligence. The previous two facilities are tied up with Stanford University in Silicon Valley and MIT in Cambridge, Mass.
