Apple letter is clearest hint yet it’s working on a self-driving car

Sunday 4 December 2016 Fabrice Coffrini/Getty Apple has given its clearest indication yet that it’s working on a self-driving car – or at least working with car manufacturers to make the plans a reality. ADVERTISEMENT In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in Washington, Apple said it uses machine learning to make its products and services smarter, adding the company “is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation.” The comments were made in response to the proposed Federal Automated Vehicles Policy and were published on November 22.
