Apple publishes research paper about artificial intelligence

The previous ban on publishing research papers by Apple meant that less researchers in the cutting edge of AI research would work for the company. Considering how Apple is seriously considering a future in AI, this holds great significance for the company. Apple has published its first paper in the field of artificial intelligence. This particular flavor of Simulated+Unsupervised learning combines in practice some annotated synthetic images with unlabeled real image data. “We described SimGAN, our method for S+U learning, that uses an adversarial network and demonstrated state-of-the-art results without any labeled real data”.
