Assistant Professor, Biology (Two positions: Computational Neuroscience & Neurobiology)

The Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno, seeks two tenure-track assistant professors, in the broad area of NEUROSCIENCE, with an expected start date of July 1, 2017. For the neurobiologist position, we are seeking candidates with expertise that might include integrative approaches spanning cells to systems, optogenetics, neurogenetics, plasticity, neurophysiology, neurodevelopment or behavior. For the computational neuroscientist, we are interested in candidates whose research might range from analyzing large data sets of functional and molecular neuroscience information to building computational models at the level of molecules, neurons, circuits, or functional brain regions.  Both positions are part of a strategic expansion in the neurosciences.  Highly competitive startup funds are available.  In addition, there is potential support from existing and pending NIH COBRE career development grants.
