Davos focuses on killer artificial intelligence

British physicist Stephen Hawking has recently told audiences at a seminar in the UK that there is little possibility for man to colonise any alien planet in the near future. But he feels upbeat and looks forward to man’s inhabiting these planets. That might take thousand to five to ten thousand years. The scientist was discussing issues ranging from nuclear war to global warming to genetically engineered viruses at the BBC Keith Lectures. Given his apprehensive posture, the astrophysicist appeared to be wary of the rapid advancement of science. He seemed to have made it a point that the unbridled progress in technological inventions would create new ways things can go wrong.
