Google to Bring Deep Learning to Android Phones

Google’s next generation smartphones will soon understand and process what they see just like humans do. Mountain View’s new partnership with chip startup Movidius will take machine learning out of the cloud and into Android users’ pockets. The collaboration will see the search giant place the processor maker’s MA2450 chip inside Android devices to enable them to identify and understand images like faces and street signs in real-time. According to USA Today, Modivius announced Thursday that it was teaming up with the Internet giant to speed up the adoption of a type of deep machine learning within smartphones.
