Jun Liu, assistant professor of information systems in the College of Business & Information System at Dakota State University will give a talk on the semi-supervised article selection for medical systematic reviews. Date: Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 Time: 2:30-3:30 Location: GITC 1403 ABSTRACT: While systematic reviews are positioned as an essential element of modern evidence-based medical practice, the creation of these reviews is resource intensive. To mitigate this problem, there have been some attempts to leverage supervised machine learning to automate the article triage procedure. Supervised learning has been proved to be helpful for updating existing systematic reviews. However, it holds very little promise for creating new reviews because training data are rarely available when it comes to systematic creation.
