Latin American Policing, Artificial Intelligence, UK Officials Warn of Possible Gun Rampages, and More 11/1/2016 by Holly Gilbert Stowell ​El Salvador’s police forces have been involved in at least 459 shootouts with powerful street gangs this year. Howard Cotto, director of the El Salvador Civil National Police, said at a news conference these “enfrentamientos”–-or confrontations-–killed 424 alleged gang members. Those numbers put them ahead of Mexico and Colombia for such deadly confrontations, according to the website Insight Crime, which tracks security issues in Latin America.
