Microsoft Acquires AI Scheduling Tool Genee (MSFT)

Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) got a little smarter Monday, thanks to its newly-added capabilities in artificial intelligence. The world’s largest software company announced plans Monday to acquire Genee, an artificial intelligence-powered scheduling startup. The Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant is looking to expand its enterprise cloud offerings to better compete with, Inc.’s (AMZN) dominant AWS cloud platform. Microsoft’s Azure cloud service has already grown to become the No. 2 player in the industry. And Microsoft is now using its massive cash stockpile to buy more growth. Though the terms of the deal were not disclosed, this can become one of Microsoft’s best deals. This is because two-year-old Genee, based out of Mountain View, Calif., has a service that uses natural language processing and decision-making algorithms that allow for accurate customer interaction.…
