NVIDIA Announces Jetson TX1 Module

The TX1 is roughly the size of a credit card, yet it can churn out 1 teraflop – a trillion floating point operations every second. Jetson TX1 is created to use deep neural net training and applies what it “sees” in the field with its cameras to identify objects and allow for a new superclass of autonomous products ranging from drones to robots that can navigate disaster areas to unsafe for humans. While the corporation does not build its own drones or AI, it is still focused to make them smarter. Nvidia says its new GPUs can provide the level of machine learning necessary for the kinds of features now being used by popular sites such as Facebook, YouTube and Google, including facial analysis and behavioral recognition.
