Settlers of Catan and puzzle games show how computers could run the world

Settlers of Catan is a microcosm for real life. We had the German version of Settlers of Catan at home. My brother, a childhood friend and I would set up the hexagonal board and construct our small villages and towns courtesy of precarious or often outright hostile trade deals, punctuated with frequent trips to my mother for clarification of some German phrase or to adjudicate a murky negotiation. Often when my brother had better things to do or my friend was somewhere else, I wished I had a robot to play Settlers of Catan with.
