Takeda’s Cambridge team gets role in new neurological drug firm

Takeda will retain its presence in Cambridge thanks to its role in a new company which is developing new drugs to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders. The Japanese pharma firm has co-founded Cerevance, a neuroscience firm that will use new technology developed at the Rockfeller University in the US to come up with novel therapies. Together Lightstone Ventures, it has provided $21.5m in Series A financing to get Cerevance up and running, and will also provide a 25-strong neuroscience research which will work out of Takeda’s office at the Science Park.
