What we have added We have now four full courses on Spark. Mostly everything that we taught (other than deep nets) we teach it on Spark now (pyspark). This brings us to another topic: it may well be that if Spark keeps gaining ground, Scala is the better language to teach data science. We have a serious investment in Scala already, and are contemplating moving to it as a teaching language. The data engineer retreat used Scala and Python, whereas the data science retreat uses python only. People learned very fast that the error logs in Python are far harder to debug than the ones in Scala.
