US military enlists robotics to help on battlefield

©Dreamstime The US military intends to use artificial intelligence and advanced robotics to help humans make better decisions, according to the second-in-command at the Pentagon, but robots will not fight wars on their own. Robert Work, deputy secretary of defence, said the Pentagon was not trying to use a new wave of technological advances to create “Terminator” style robot-soldiers but was looking to forge a collaboration between machines and humans that would allow quicker decision-making on the battlefield.
