Westwood High School student wins South Texas Brain Bee

A Round Rock brainiac with a knack for neuroscience has won the South Texas Brain Bee and will advance to the national competition to test his knowledge of all things cerebral. Rahul Vegiraju, a sophomore at Westwood High School, won the regional competition that quizzes high school students’ knowledge of neuroscience. The South Texas Brain Bee is sponsored by the Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration Association and was held Jan. 16 at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. The competition aims to promote an interest in neuroscience, said Sarah Oxford, executive director of the FLDA. This is the competition’s fourth year.
